Three Days in Wuhan: Yellow Crane, East Lake, Optics Valley
Seventy-two hours in Wuhan — Yellow Crane and hot-dry-noodles breakfast, East Lake greenway, Optics Valley Skyrail — paced for metro, not a four-night hotel dump.

This three-day Wuhan route pairs Wuchang classics (Yellow Crane Tower and hot dry noodles), a free East Lake greenway half day, then an Optics Valley Skyrail half day — paced for metro and one intentional river logic, not a hotel booking dump. Pre-check tower day/night tickets and Skyrail hours the week you travel. Soft entry rules if you are still planning the flight: visa-free entry and the online arrival card.
How should Day 1 move — breakfast, Yellow Crane, riverside?
Start with 过早 near Hubu Alley or Liangdao Street — sesame-paste hot dry noodles, optional doupi or mianwo. Then walk or ride Metro Line 5 to Simenkou Yellow Crane Tower Station for the tower: ¥70 day adult on the 2026 municipal list, daytime entry commonly about 08:30–17:20. Climb, photograph the Yangtze angle, leave before you stack a second major site into the same sweaty afternoon.
Late day: riverside walk near the First Yangtze Bridge / Wuchang shore if legs allow, or cross toward Hankou only if dinner plans already sit there. Skip forcing a night tower ticket onto a tired first day unless that is your single priority.
What does Day 2 cover — East Lake without a theme-park checklist?
Give the morning or cool afternoon to East Lake Greenway. Tingtao and Moshan public scenic areas are free on the 2026 municipal list; boats, cherry gardens, and hire bikes are extra. Start from Metro Line 8 Liyuan toward Tingtao, walk a two-to-four-hour shore segment, and stop. Do not attempt the full ~100 km greenway loop.
Optional museum neighbors on the Tingtao side (Hubei Provincial Museum and related halls) follow their own free/ticket and ID rules — check the day’s notice rather than inventing Monday closures here. Evening: stay Wuchang-side or return toward your hotel spine; keep dinner simple after the lake miles.
How do you fit Optics Valley on Day 3?
Ride metro to Line 11 Guanggu 4th Road, Exit B2, and board the Optics Valley Skyrail at Gaoxin Avenue. Operator/district pages (checked October 2026) list about ¥30 single / ¥40 day pass and service commonly 09:00–19:00 — station boards win when OTAs disagree. One single ride is enough for most visitors; this is a tech-corridor novelty, not a shopping haul day.
If rain kills the Skyrail plan, swap in a slower Wuchang food-and-lanes morning or an extra East Lake segment instead of inventing indoor “robotaxi museum” steps — those products lack stable English visitor procedures on this site.
How do you arrive without the wrong station?
Read airport and HSR metro before you land: Tianhe Airport is on Line 2; Hankou, Wuchang, and Wuhan Railway Station are different rail hubs. Match the 12306 name. Sleep near Day 1’s Wuchang sights if the tower is your priority; sleep nearer Line 2/11 spines if Skyrail is Day 1 instead of Day 3.
Is two days enough — or do you need four?
Two full days cover tower + breakfast + one lake half day if you drop Skyrail. Three days add Optics Valley without rushing. Four days only help if you add distant side trips this slate does not cover — do not pad Wuhan into a fake shopping-haul city; electronics and tax-refund density live elsewhere on this site’s Shenzhen pages when you need that trip type.
Who is this for — and who should skip?
Come if you want a first Wuhan spine with verified free/paid splits and metro paths. Skip if you only have one afternoon — then choose either Yellow Crane or East Lake, not both raced. March–May and September–November beat Wuhan’s humid summer and damp winter. Checked October 2026; official scenic, Skyrail, metro, and 12306 notices win.
